How this is calculated

We simulate your savings period by period (daily, weekly, fortnightly or monthly, matching your contribution frequency), adding your contribution each period and applying any assumed growth rate you enter.

If you leave the assumed growth rate at 0%, this becomes a simple running total of your contributions.

The assumed rate is provided by you and is not a prediction of future returns.

Formula

Each period: balance = balance × (1 + assumed rate ÷ periods per year) + contributionWe repeat this until the balance reaches your target amount

Worked example

To reach a $10,000 goal saving $250/week with 0% assumed growth takes about 40 weeks. At $300/week, that drops to about 34 weeks; at $400/week, about 25 weeks; at $500/week, about 20 weeks.
