$Figure My Life

How we calculate

Figure My Life doesn’t hide its math. Every calculator on this site shows its own formula, methodology and a worked example directly on the calculator page. This page explains the principles that apply across all of them.

Client-side by default

Calculations run in your browser using the numbers you type in. We don’t need your financial inputs on a server to produce your result.

Plain arithmetic, not modeling

These calculators use straightforward, well-established formulas -- simple interest and compound growth math, unit conversions, and period-by-period simulations for things like savings and debt payoff. None of them use hidden statistical models, and none of them personalize results based on anything other than what you type in.

Assumed rates are yours to choose

Anywhere a calculator asks for an assumed interest or growth rate, that number comes entirely from you. It’s not a market forecast, and it’s never silently pre-filled with a “recommended” figure.

No tax logic

Tax rules vary by country and change frequently. Rather than guess, this site doesn’t calculate taxes at all in its current version. Country-specific, verified tax modules may be added later — see our note on future international expansion below.

Every calculator’s own methodology

Planned: verified, country-specific modules

Country-specific salary and paycheck tools (for example, tax-aware calculators for the US, Australia, the UK and Canada) are on our roadmap, but only once they can be built on reliably maintained, verified rules — not guessed or static assumptions. We’d rather ship fewer calculators that are trustworthy than many that quietly go stale.
